About the location.
Running past the house is the famous John Muir Way, a country trail that runs past beautiful Yellowcraig beach from which Fidra Island and its lighthouse can be seen. Fidra claims to be the island featured by Robert Louis Stevenson in his novel Treasure Island!
The bed and breakfast is set on the Archerfield Estate, which comprises five hundred acres of outstanding natural beauty and includes two world-class links golf courses located between Gullane (2 miles) and North Berwick (3 miles).
The stunning beach at Yellowcraig, with views across the Firth of Forth to Fife and eastwards to the internationally-renowned bird sanctuary at Bass Rock, is a 5-minute walk from the house.
East Lothian offers many sandy beaches and excellent marinas at nearby Dirleton, Dunbar and North Berwick. The Lammermuir Hills to the south offer hill walking, fishing, shooting and other outdoor pursuits.
Golf East Lothian is renowned for some of the best links courses in the country including the world famous open championship course at Muirfield, Gullane, Luffness and Kilspindie to name but a few. Archerfield offers two courses, Fidra Links and Dirleton Links, and The Renaissence club is close by.
Edinburgh Edinburgh (18 miles) is easily accessible via the A1 dual carriageway, as is Edinburgh airport (26 miles). Train stations are available nearby at Drem (3 miles) and Longniddry, both of which are on the main North Berwick Line linking Edinburgh in approximately 20 minutes.
Transfers to and from train and rail can be arranged on request.
Travel Directions From the A1 take the junction to Longniddry and North Berwick and follow the coastal road through Aberlady and Gullane (A198). After leaving Gullane, the Archerfield Estate is approximately 1 mile eastwards on the left hand side.
