Spacious, perfectly located flat... a “must rent”!

Reviewed on Wed, 02 Jan 2019 by Lewis Colson , United Kingdom (Stayed here in January, 2019)

Warm, spacious, clean, ample facilities and perfectly located, this flat is 100% a must rent!

The host is accommodating, friendly and ensured a great stay. The flat itself is a stones throw from the city centre, perfect for seeing the beautiful city in the day and for enjoying the nightlife.

You would be mad to rent anywhere else!

    Wasn't the best

Reviewed on Sun, 27 May 2018 by Laura-Jayne Davis , United Kingdom (Stayed here in May, 2018)

The location of the property was good, as was the cleanliness.

On the other hand, I had to contact Edlets to find out info on the property, I did not receive a response, I therefore emailed again - no response. In the end I had to phone the company and then received an email with some of the answers to my email.

On arrival there was no welcome pack and no instructions were left on how to use the cooker (all the writing on the cooker is faded so it is unsure which cooker knob is for which hob ring & it is not clear if you are putting the grill or oven on).

The kitchen did not have a grill pan or toaster, which are basics.

The small toilet did not have a lock on it.

The double bedroom smoke detector was beeping all weekend and therefore the room was unusable for sleep space.

A shame when so much money was spent on it.

Great for students and short stays.

Reviewed on Sun, 13 May 2018 by K , United Kingdom (Stayed here in May, 2018)

I'll start with the positives because there aren't that many!
There's plenty of space for a big group of people sharing. The beds are comfortable. Each room has a separate heating controller which is handy.
It's bee one of the few places I've stayed which has enough coat hangers and wardrobe space. It's only a 20 minute walk to the city centre from the flat. The place was mostly very clean (aside from a dead spider and a dead bluebottle that were there to greet me on arrival!) and Linsay was incredibly helpful in trying to solve my issues.
Now the negatives: this isn't the apartment I'd originally booked and no one bothered to inform me my booking had been changed. I only found out on the day of my arrival when I asked for check in details. Not great.
This place is modern but not at all homely and has a very student dorm feel to it: with its many bunk beds, soap and toilet roll dispensers like you'd find in a public toilet, posters stapled to the walls and a bench where a sofa should be. Fine for a short stay but I was living here for 4 weeks and spent as little time in the flat as possible as a result.
The "living room" is more like a doctors waiting room, with a bench instead of a sofa and a giant tv mounted high on the close wall opposite- resulting in the same sort of effect as when you sit front row at the cinema- neck ache!! I spent no time in there after my first night. A smaller tv was provided so I could turn one of the bedrooms into a makeshift living room, but it didn't work and by that point I was sick of complaining so just did without.
The flat is on a main road and has no soundproofing, so not only can you hear traffic, bin lorries emptying the dumpsters right outside the bedroom and the beeping of the pedestrian crossing, you can also hear the conversations of everyone going past, to the point where it was so loud I thought someone had walked in!
On that subject, entrance to this flat is gained by entering a code, with no key to double lock the door which didn't feel particularly safe. This also lead to the landlord letting himself into the flat while I was in the shower and scaring the life out of me! An honest mistake, but to show up without giving any notice isn't on, wether I was inside the property at the time or not. So I've no idea how many times someone has been into the flat without me knowing while I've been out.
Some small points: the shower curtain is a bit mouldy and could do with replacing, the second shower isn't water tight and leaves a big puddle on the bathroom floor after every use, a toaster in the kitchen would be handy and some instructions for the oven as all the numbers and symbols on the dials have been scrubbed off and the tumble dryer didn't work.
So I'd recommend staying here if there are lots of you and you're staying for maximum of a week- but I was looking for a home away from home while I'm touring with work and it's not what I got (or originally booked!)

    Buccleuch duplex apartment

Reviewed on Sat, 12 Aug 2017 by Helen , United Kingdom (Stayed here in August, 2017)

Just got back from a 2 night stay large, beautiful, spotlessly clean apartment within a ten minute walking distance of the castle and surrounding area.I would have given 5 stars for location however it is situated on an extremley busy road day and night with lots of cars and rather loud people passing right past the window so unfortunately sleeping was a bit of an issue, shame as everything else was perfect.

Logement bien situe en centre ville, moderne et propre mais un peu bruyant.
Nous etions 2 familles de 4 en vacances en Ecosse et nous etions a l'etroit pour manger dans la cuisine alors qu'il est prevu pour 14 personnes.

The location is good in the city center, modern and clean but a bit noisy.
We were 2 families of 4 on vacation in Scotland and we were cramped to eat in the kitchen when it was planned for 14 people.

    Birthday weekend away

Reviewed on Mon, 31 Jul 2017 by Robert Arch , United Kingdom (Stayed here in July, 2017)

Great value for the money, here you have everything you need at this apartment and when entering through the front door we were very surprised on how well it was presented and how big it was. The owners very helpful throughout the planing of our trip, and you have plenty of room.
If like us needing plenty of bed for a long stay or just the weekend you'll have no problem, there is only one double bedroom that is not shared with others. So mixed groups may find it a little difficult, but if you only have 3 couples then you will have a room each.
This place will be great for all males or female groups.
There are plenty of shops next street back from the property, cafe's, bars, restaurants.
I would hop on the bus outside as it is a bit of a walk to the mile, Princes street etc, but if you like walking will take you 15 minutes.
Just one thing try and find multi story car park as around Edinburgh is expensive.
Staying here was well worth the money.
