    Apartments: Pittenweem Harbour Penthouse

Renovated throughout in 2017, this one-bedroom penthouse flat offers everything you need for an East Neuk of Fife get-away - and it's right on the Fife Coastal Path, overlooking the lively, working harbour of Pittenweem.

The centrepiece of this bright and airy flat is the open-plan kitchen/diner and lounge which offers views south, out into the Firth of Forth and the North Sea. We recommend the comfortable sofa to cast your eye over fishermen laying their creels in the sparkling waters - and we have even seen whales here. Or take a lounge window seat and look west over the boats - and seals - bobbing around in the harbour. You are that close.

The penthouse is an ideal retreat for couples, although the lounge sofa is a comfortable double bed-settee to offer extra sleeping space. Larger groups could also rent the main two-storey house below with its separate entrance. The
Pittenweem Harbourside House sleeps 6 - 8; and together the penthouse and main house could comfortably accommodate groups of up to 12.

    The accommodation comprises:

As you would expect of a total refurbishment, everything in the penthouse is new - kitchen, lounge, bathroom, bedroom, utility room - and all furniture and equipment.

The kitchen has a gas hob with an electric oven, dishwasher, fridge and ample work surfaces and storage cupboards. A small freezer is in the utility room, along with the washing machine. The dining table comfortably seats 4; and the lounge area includes a well-lit desk if you need to use a laptop.

The bedroom has a super king-size zip-and-link bed (which can be unzipped to provide 2 single beds) and sits alongside a wardrobe and chest of drawers - plenty space.

Next door is the bathroom with walk-in shower and separate bath and everything you need for a relaxing stay.

    About the location (Fife, Pittenweem)

Pittenweem has the only working harbour in the East Neuk of Fife. The property is steeped in fishing history, and even now you can buy fish and seafood on your doorstep. Watch the seals in the harbour with an icecream.

Take a short walk along the beach and you may be lucky enough to see dolphins and porpoise - or even a whale. Or enjoy a boat trip to the Isle of May (National Nature Reserve) - or even North Berwick across the water in East Lothian.

Located right on the Fife Coastal Path, and it's a gentle 40 minute walk to Anstruther to the east, or St Monans to the west. The annual Pittenweem Arts Festival (August) has drawn a community of artists and craftspeople to this historic village, with galleries and open studies. The sleepy high street has welcoming cafes, and there are two village pubs.

Anstruther, Elie and St Monans also provide a wide range of restaurants, pubs and cafes.

For golfers, Fife is the home of golf, with Anstruther course five minutes away, and another 45 courses a short drive - including the famous Old Course at St Andrews.
