The third-floor apartment is accessed via a closed stairwell which leads to an open-air balcony and the front door. Inside the apartment is finished to a high standard and has a beguiling mix of contemporary and traditional furnishings. The main living room has a large dining table with seating for eight at one end and a small three-piece suite at the other. The room boasts some of the most extensive and dramatic views anywhere in Edinburgh and somehow lends the feeling of a captain's cabin in an old wooden galleon.
The comfortable sitting room is an ideal place to unwind after a hard day's sightseeing and is lavishly decorated in rich purple with velvet curtains and boutique-style wallpaper that belies the historic nature of the building. The master bedroom shares the living room's spectacular vista and is a cool, bright space. It features a skylight directly over the bed which can be opened or closed remotely, perfect for those lazy mornings in bed.
The master bedroom en-suite boasts a shower and stand-alone bathtub. The two remaining bedrooms (one twin and one double, both of which also feature en-suite facilities) sit on the other side of the building and look across to Edinburgh's Iconic Castle. Finally, the fully-equipped kitchen is clean and modern and features a range cooker for when all the eating out becomes a bit too much.
Uniquely situated and finished to extremely high standards, it will serve as a superbly convenient, comfortable and memorable base for your stay in Scotland's wonderful capital city. Luxury self-catering accommodation in Edinburgh doesn't come much more exclusive than this.
About the location (Old Town, Edinburgh)
Ramsay Gardens is one of Edinburgh's most prestigious residential areas and is named for her inaugural resident and designer, Alan Ramsay. Built-in the mid-eighteenth century, the apartment block lies in the shadow of the Castle and at the top of Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile, the historic boulevard linking Edinburgh Castle to the Palace of Holyrood House.
From its position at the top of the Royal Mile guests have a host of options at their fingertips, with many of Edinburgh's premier tourist attractions just a stones' throw away. Quite apart from the neighbouring Edinburgh Castle, residents enjoy easy access to St Giles Cathedral, Camera Obscura, and the famed Scotch Whiskey Experience. Furthermore, guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to the many shops, bars and restaurants along Edinburgh's Royal Mile.
And if the rustic charms of the Old Town start to wear thin, a five minute stroll will take guests across Princes Street Gardens and in to the Georgian grandeur of the New Town, where shopaholics can indulge in a little retail therapy.
The apartment sits next door to Edinburgh Castle and commands some of the best views the city has to offer.
Check in/out Check-in is between 4p.m. and 10p.m. on the day of arrival. Check-out time is before 10.30 a.m. on the day of departure. Please contact us as soon as your travel arrangements are confirmed (and at least three days prior to your arrival) to confirm the expected time of arrival with us. Arrivals at antisocial times (from 10 p.m. onward) and late departures to 12:00 p.m. may incur a modest fee of £25. We offer both face-to-face and contactless check-in options.
Payment of balance If the booking is placed more than 250 days prior to arrival, the guest will initially be charged 10% of the total rental fee. Once the booking is within 250 days, the guests will be charged 50 % of the remaining balance which will be required to be paid at latest 120 days prior to arrival. The remainder of the balance will be charged 56 days prior to arrival. If the booking is placed within 56 days of the arrival date the full balance will be required to be paid.
Security deposit A refundable security deposit of £500 will be required for your booking to ensure that no damage is done to the property or its contents.
Coronavirus cancellation policy (for arrivals before 30th September 2021) Due to the Corona virus pandemic we have offered a more relaxed cancellation policy for bookings up until 30th September 2021. Under this policy guests will be entitled to a full refund if they are forced to cancel their trip due to government coronavirus restrictions. If the guests should cancel for any other reasons prior to 30th September 2021 the following conditions apply:
Cancellation over 15 days prior to arrival - Guests will receive a full refund minus a £30 admin fee. Cancellation within 15 days of arrival - Guests will be charged in full.
Standard cancellation policy (for arrivals after 1st October 2021) The initial instalment of 10% is non-refundable. Over 6 months prior to arrival - Guests will receive a full refund of the remaining balance minus a £50 admin fee. Up to 56 days prior to arrival - Guests will be charged 25% of the rental fee. 55 -30 days prior to arrival - Guests will be charged 50% of the rental fee. 29 days or less - Full rental fee will be charged
