This is a nice small property in walking distance to many attractions. Perfect for two people. It took a while to understand how some things operated, including the heating, and the electric stovetop. Terrific bathroom. Comfortable bed. Very quiet neighborhood and nice people living on the street, I made friends a few of them. There's even a resident cat who lives across the road and will come pay you a visit. The people upstairs are sometimes a bit noisy walking around, but they werent there very often, and I stayed for one month. The street sign was hard to see because of the overgrowth, but most locals/taxis know exactly where you are because the streets are designed in a grid. Management is quick and efficient with any problems you might have. The Stockbridge Sunday Farmers Market is a 5 minute walk away, and that neighborhood has lots of fun shops and pubs. Security in that area is top notch. Compared to other rents it's good value although Edinburgh is expensive.

A wonderful, dog-friendly haven

My partner and I were able to take our little dog with us on our trip to Edinburgh this past January. Our stay at Avondale Place was a welcome respite.
The bed was very comfortable, which I really appreciated, as I suffer from chronic pain. The street was blissfully quiet while still being only a few blocks away from the action. The shower/tub is larger than usual, which I was great for soaking in a nice, hot bath. The kitchen had everything we needed, including oven, hob/stove, fridge, freezer, and microwave. There were also plenty of books provided, for those times when we just wanted to stay in, have tea, and cozy up with a good read.
We found Stockbridge a tolerant, welcoming neighborhood; we felt safe to walk at night, and it seemed pretty LGBTQIA+ friendly, too.
There were pet supply stores and other dog-friendly shops and cafes in the area, and you'll be fine as long as you pick up after your dog like any responsible pet owner should.
I am a historian and so appreciated that this ground floor apartment retained several of its original features while still having modern conveniences. I honestly can't recommend the place highly enough. We would definitely like to stay at Avondale Place again if we take another trip to Edinburgh and it's available.
