About the location (Calton Hill, Edinburgh)

Great for major Festival events. - nearby venues include; the Assembly Rooms, Playhouse, City Arts Centre, Stand Comedy Club with many others in pubs and local halls nearby.

Most of the rest of the Festival is but a 'hop, skip and jump' over the North bridge to the High Street. Other landmarks include;

The world famous Calton Hill with it's spectacular views, St Andrews Square, Waterloo Place, the Balmoral Hotel, world class shopping in Princes Street and George Street, an Apple Store, Harvey Nicholls and the new St James Quarter Shopping Centre.

On the minor streets, you'll find a fair share of boutique shops, fun pubs and busy restaurants, particularly in nearby Broughton Street, Rose Street and Thistle Street.

There are excellent transport links from the nearby Waverley Train Station to all major cities, non-stop bus to Edinburgh Airport and trams, busses and taxis available in the surrounding streets.

Yet, despite being at the centre of the Festival city in the midst of this exciting time, a leafy peace and calm unexpectedly awaits the visitor who turns off busy Waterloo Place into this small and picturesque eighteenth century terrace.

Views/Outlook

Perhaps one of the finest all round views of any in the City: These include commanding views of the Old and New Towns, the UNESCO World Heritage site of Calton Hill itself and in distance vessels plying to and frow in the River Forth.

History

Calton Hill with its famous monuments & buildings is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This terrace and it's cobbled street date back to 1760's, since when it has been home to many famous Scots: Robbie Burns' mistress, the famous Clarinda lived a couple of doors down.
Also, a focus in the early development of photography ,David Octavius Hill, operated his pioneering and world famous studio at Rock House next door.

Please, no unacceptable noise from 11 pm to 8 am.
Please do not to play music late at night, bang doors or have loud conversations in the stair well.

No smoking or lit candles anywhere in the building.

After confirmation the host will ask for a further payment of 25% of the remaining balance payable within one week of booking.

Remaining balance due no later than 8 weeks prior to arrival or straight away if within that time.
