History

Coinyie House Close is the site of the Old Scottish Mint, which produced coins between 1574 and 1709, two years after Scottish coinage ended under the Act of Union.

Operating through the reigns of seven monarchs, the Coinyie House building was demolished in 1877, leaving just a courtyard, known as Coinyie House Close.
