  • About the location of 1 Bd Castle Terrace (Old Town, Edinburgh)

This apartment is located in a residential block in the very centre of the city, so it is well placed for you to enjoy all that Edinburgh has to offer, depending on which direction you take as you step out the front door.

Walk up Johnston Terrace (opposite) and you arrive at the entrance to Edinburgh Castle, at the top of the Royal Mile. This is the bustling heart of the city with its many historic pubs, shops and attractions including Holyrood Palace. Alternatively King Stables Road will take you to the Grassmarket, where you will discover the many bars, restaurants and querky vintage shops (Armstrongs is a must!) in this historic part of town.

Princes Street Gardens is opposite the flat. Here you can relax and admire the Castle towering above. Walk through the Gardens and you come to Princes Street and then George Street, Edinburgh's main shopping area. Scott's Monument and the National Galleries are here too.

There are excellent bus links very close to the flat and Waverley train station is less than a mile away. The Edinburgh sightseeing tour bus stops just opposite. The city's art galleries, theatres, cinemas and major tourist attractions are all within easy walking distance and the Usher Hall is just around the corner.

There is an excellent farmer's market on Castle Terrace each Saturday morning, and a good supermarket (open 7 am until 11pm) is a minute's walk.

There is a wide variety of local restaurants, including the Michelin Star Castle Terrace restaurant next door. Edinburgh's business district is within easy walking distance.

    Customer Testimonials
"The true value of this delightful apartment comes not just in the charming appearance of the place but in the details: lovely soap in the shower (unopened), lotions and fresh, fluffy towels with face cloths in the bath, the immaculate bed linens, excellent mattress and a cupboard with hangers! There is also the wonderful location and the gorgeous day and night view (the Castle is lit at night!)."
    P. Sorensen, USA June 2013

"I have visited Edinburgh many times before, but would have to say that this was among the favourite places I've stayed at. "
