  • About the location of Renovated Easdale Cottage (Argyll, Easdale)

Situated on the former slate mining island of Easdale, 15 miles south of the town of Oban in Argyll, the island has around 60 permanent inhabitants and has a fantastic sense of community; a warm welcome awaits any visitor.

Easdale is a peaceful and car free island, allowing the visitor unrestricted enjoyment of the natural environment. There is a network of footpaths and it typically takes around 25 minutes to walk the entire island, which includes climbing the 125-ft hill that offers panoramic views of surrounding islands.

The island's local pub is open all year round and serves a selection of locally brewed ales. The attached tearoom/restaurant is open during the summer months and serves award winning, locally caught seafood.

Access to Easdale Island is via a three-minute passenger ferry crossing from the village of Ellenabeich on the Isle of Seil. Oban; the gateway to the other Hebridean islands, is less than 30-minutes drive via the famous 'Bridge over the Atlantic' that connects the Isle of Seil to the rest of Scotland. A number of supermarkets and other general tourist facilities are available here.

The Easdale Island Community Hall stages regular entertainment throughout the year with nationally and internationally acclaimed acts performing to a full auditorium.

Seafari Adventures offer a number of high speed boat excursions departing from Ellenabeich, including trips to the world's second largest whirlpool at Corryvreckan with the opportunity to spot some of the local wildlife, which includes; whales, dolphins, basking sharks, white tailed eagles, deer, goats, seals and their pups.
